📐 How this is calculated
All distances are straight-line (crow flies) between stadiums using the Haversine formula. Pairs are grouped into three tiers:
• Same Division — clubs in the same league within 75 mi (max 3 pairs per club)
• City Rivals — clubs in different leagues within 5 mi — same city or conurbation (max 2 per club)
• Regional Cross-League — clubs in different leagues within 40 mi (max 2 per club)
Proximity does not imply rivalry. Traditional derbies are defined by history and identity, not geography alone.
